Abbas Port or Bandar Abbas is located about 1484 km away from Tehran. In 1555 AD it was known as 'Jordon Port'. Bandar Abbas was a small village situated opposite to the northern coast of Hormoz Island. The Portuguese selected it for loading cargoes. Also known as 'crab port' because of abundance of crabs. In 1622 it came to be known as Bandar Abbas named after the victory of Shah Abbas over the Portuguese.
