Tennessee, Black Warrior, Cahaba, Alabama, Conecuh, Tombigbee, Pea, Choctawhatchee, and Tallapoosa are some of the important rivers of the state of Alabama. The Alabama River flows through the counties of Baldwin, Dallas, Elmore, Lowndes, Wilcox, Autauga, Monroe, Clarke, and Montgomery. The Tennessee River is the biggest river in the state. River Tennessee is famous for the aquatic species of Cavefish. River Black Warrior covers a total drainage area of 6,276 square miles. Another prominent river is the Coosa River which drains 10,200 square miles of the state.

River Cahaba flows through the counties of Chilton, Jefferson, Bibb, St. Clair, Dallas, Shelby, Tuscaloosa, and Perry. The river is spread over a total drainage area of 1,870 square miles. The River Tallapoosa derived its name from the word Tali which means rock and Pushi which means small pieces of stones. The river flows across a total area of 4,680 square miles. Wheeler, Pickwick, Logan Martin, West Point, and Marlin are some of the notable lakes of the state of Alabama of the United States of America.
