Singapore is a Southeast Asian country located close to the equator at 1.50N Latitude and 1040E Longitude.

Thus, the Singapore weather is characterized to be tropical in nature. Singapore weather experiences a uniform temperature along with uniformity of pressure.

The country is exposed to high humidity and plenty rainfall. The topography of the country and its location near the sea is a major deciding factor of its weather.

The climatic conditions or the weather of Singapore experiences two major seasonal changes. Between the change of these two monsoon seasons falls a inter monsoon period that lasts for a very short while. The seasons can thus be classified as:

  • Northeast Monsoon

    : This monsoon season lasts from December to March. During this season the country experiences heavy winds. The average wind speed is estimated to be almost 20 km/hr. During the months of December and January sky remains cloudy and the country experiences frequent rain showers during the day. At times it also experiences heavy rain showers that prevail for one two three days. With the coming of February the weather conditions become a bit dry and continue to be the same till the month of March. In the months of January and February Singapore experiences heavy winds. The wind speed during this part of the season is at times estimated to be 30km/hour.

  • Southwest Monsoon

    : This monsoon season prevails from June to September. The weather of Singapore during this season is generally fogy and misty. At times there is a little rainfall during the morning and afternoon hours of the day. Heavy winds invade the country, especially during the early morning hours.

The periods between these two seasons are classified as Pre South-West Monsoon season and Pre North-East Monsoon season. The Pre South-West Monsoon season lasts from the months of March to May. During this season the winds are not very strong and the speed varies from time to time. The region experiences lot of thundering followed by rain showers especially during the afternoon or early evening period. The Pre North-East Monsoon season brings with itself a light winds with variable speed. During the day time you can experience the sea winds flowing across the region. During the late afternoons and early evenings thunder and lightening can be along with little rains could be experienced.
