Going through this schedule will help you understand the entire itinerary of the upcoming Commonwealth Games.
Beginning from 23 July 2014 till 3 August 2014, the 20th Commonwealth Games at Glasgow, Scotland, will see more than 6,000 athletes participate in 17 sports and 261 different events, coming from 70 countries. 22 para-sport categories will also be contested in the following sports – Athletics, Swimming, Cycling, Weightlifting and Lawn Bowls.
From the previous edition at Delhi, two events, Archery and Lawn Tennis have been removed from the itinerary, while Triathlon and Judo have been brought back for the first time since 2006 and 2002, respectively. Some other disciplines from specific sports have been removed from the 2010 edition, such as the walking events in athletics, synchronized swimming and Greco-Roman wrestling. Medal events in Shooting have also been dropped to 19 from the earlier figure of 44.
Other new events on the program for the first time are Women’s Boxing, Triathlon mixed relay event, Para-track Cycling, and Mountain Biking (to be contested for the first time since 2006).
