Airports in Maine

The Bangor International Airport is one of the fastest growing airports in Maine. The airport has more than sixty flights taking off each day. The airport is disabled-friendly and has TDD phones in its terminals. It has shops, ATMs, restaurants, porter services, locker facilities and personnel who readily provide assistance to those who need it. Currently, the Bangor International Airport is being served by American, United, Delta and Allegiant. While American and Delta provide daily, non-stop service to Detroit, LaGuardia, Washington DC’s Reagan National and Philadelphia, Allegiant is indulged in providing multiple weekly flights to Orlando/Sanford and Tampa/St. Petersburg. Last, but definitely not the least, United provided just a seasonal daily flight service from Chicago and Newark. As the leader in Trans-Atlantic tech stops, Bangor International Airport along with Bangor Aviation Services are truly professional and cost-efficient.

Here’s a look at three of the popular airports in Maine:

  • Portland International Jetport (PWM)

This is Maine’s largest airport in terms of number of passengers handled on a daily basis. Last year, the Airports Council International (ACI) named the Portland International Jetport as 2015’s Best Airport in North America. The announcement was made in accordance to ACI’s annual Airport Service Quality Awards. In addition to this, the Portland International Jetport has also ranked globally in the overall customer satisfaction for the airports that are serving fewer than 2 million passengers. Also, the airport has been recognized by Conde Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards as one of the Best Airports in the US.

  • Northern Maine Regional Airport (PQI)

Considered as the “Gateway to Northern Maine”, the Northern Maine Regional Airport is located in Presque Isle, Maine. It is located adjacent to Route 1 and has the second longest runway in Maine measuring 7440 feet, which is complemented by a second runway at 6000 feet. The Northern Maine Regional Airport also offers business and leisure air travelers non-stop service to and from the Boston’s Logan Airport via the PenAir’s Saab 340 aircraft

  • Augusta State Airport (AUG)

With a tag-line such as “Your Maine Connection!”, the Augusta State Airport is owned by the State of Maine. It is managed and operated by the City of Augusta. The airport plays a critical role in connecting the city of Augusta with the world. Augusta State Airport’s Fixed Base Operator is Maine Instrument Flight. It offers a wide range of aviation services, including corporate and private aviation, flying lessons, private pilots, airplane rentals, hangar rentals and private charter flights.
