The total Malta population is 401,880. Both the males and females constitute a major part of Malta population. The total area of the territory of Malta is 457 square kilometers.

The popular islands of Malta are Malta, Gozo and Comino. The islands are situated at a distance of 290 kilometers in the north of the continent of Africa and and one hundred kilometers from Sicily. The growth rate of population in Malta is 0.413%. Out of this total population the birth rate of Malta comprises of 10.28 per one thousand population. On the other hand the death rate covers 8.19 per thousand population. The migration rate according to the estimate of 2007 is 2.04 in every thousand population.

The people of Malta, known as Maltese, are the main inhabitants of the place. In between the age group of 0-14 years the females add up to thirty two thousand seven hundred and seven,and males amount to thirty four thousand five hundred and fifty nine. Within the range of age group of 15-64, the males consist one lakh forty one thousand two hundred and sixty five and females hold one lakh thirty seven thousand nine hundred and fifty one. Again within the age group of 65 and above it the females amount to thirty one thousand five hundred and ninety six and males comprise twenty three thousand eight hundred and two.

Malta population varies from district to district. The northern harbor district is thickly populated. 29.5% of the total population of Malta resides in this district. The western district comprises of 14.1% of total population. While in the southern area the population covers eighty one thousand and forty seven according to the survey of 2005. Birkirkara is the greatest town in Malta that holds a total population twenty one thousand one hundred and fifty eight people. The smallest town is Mdina that holds a total population of two hundred and seventy eight residents. Thus the population at Malta is more or less evenly distributed throughout the entire area of the country.
