Massachusetts Counties

by Vishul Malik

The majority of the Massachusetts Counties have derived their names from English place names, reflecting the colonial heritage of Massachusetts. The FIPS code (Federal Information Processing Standard)  of Massachusetts State is 25, which, when combined with any county code, would be written as 25XXX. The United States government uses the FIPS code to identify counties uniquely.
