About City : 
Cockburn Town is the capital of the Turks and Caicos Island and has a population of only 3,700. It is on the Grand Turk Beach which is the largest island of the country and is the cultural as well as financial and administrative center of the country. English is the official language around here.

Explorer, Christopher Columbus landed here first in 1492 on his first voyage to discover the New World. The city was officially founded in 1681 when Bermudians set up salt industry on the island. It became the capital of the country in the year 1766 and the country is currently an autonomous overseas territory of the British.

Cockburn Town is situated at the center of the Grand Turk Island of the Turks and Caicos archipelago. It lies on the Atlantic Ocean and covers an area of about 15 sq km.
