Only three to four years ago, it was the passport of the United States that was most powerful. But, a lot has changed ever since the world has realized the importance of global mobility. The most powerful passports are the ones which enable their holders to travel visa-free in numerous countries. In 2018, Henley Passport Index released data in collaboration with the International Air Transport Association (IATA) – which ranks the powerful passports. The database is accurate and the results incorporate an all-inclusive research.
With the increase in globalization, everyone looks forward to travel to different countries and explore numerous business, or career opportunities – be it permanent or temporary transfers to different countries, or long term assignments. If not it, at least people wish to spend an amazing vacation with friends and family in different parts of the world. Global mobility has taken a significant stand in society, and that is where having travel freedom helps.
This year, whilst offering visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to a remarkable 190 destinations, Japan emerged at the top rank in Henley Passport Index. The citizens of the island nation have the leverage to travel to world’s four largest economies: China, India, the European Union and the United States, with visa-free entry, e-visa or visa-on-arrival.
Next on the list comes Singapore passport, with a very close proximity of the score. Singaporean citizens can travel to 189 countries without undergoing the visa hassle. And holding a score of 188 countries, are three passports belonging to: France, Germany and South Korea.
