Mauritanian Prime Minister is the senior most member of the cabinet in the executive branch of government in the parliamentary system of Mauritania. The Mauritanian Prime Minister, along with the government of Mauritania has an important role to play in the economy of the country like the poverty reduction, privatization, reformation in the banking sector, liberalization in the exchange rate and the reduction of trade barriers in order to ensure economic growth. Zeine Ould Zeidane is the present Prime Minister of Mauritania who is elected on 20th April 2007.
Moktar Ould Daddah was the Prime Minister of Mauritania from 26th June 1959 till 20th August 1961. From 6th April 1979 till 27th May 1979, Ahmad Ould Bouceif was the Mauritanian Prime Minister. Mauritania saw Ahmad Salim Ould Sidi as the acting Prime Minister at Mauritania from 28th May 1979 to 31st May 1979. The span of 31st May 1979 till 12th December 1980 was covered by Mohamed Khouna Ould Haidalla who was the erstwhile Mauritanian Prime Minister. After that Sid Ahmad Ould Bneijara was the Prime Minister in Mauritania till 25th April 1981.
