Olympic Stadiums includes the stadiums built with the purpose of holding events and matches of the Olympics and mostly containing the word "Olympic" in its name.
These stadiums usually hold the majority of the events of an Olympic. A few events are held in some additional small stadiums also. However, the Olympic Stadium stands apart by being the only venue of the most important events-the Opening and the Closing Ceremonies . These central stadiums are sometimes built with the sole purpose of staging the Olympics, but sometimes the games are held with an old stadium being named the central Olympic stadium.

The Olympic Stadiums built to host a game is the main venue of that year's Olympic Games. Apart from the inauguration and the concluding ceremonies, the Olympic Stadium also hosts the track and field events of the games. Olympic being the oldest sporting event of the world, there are a number of Olympic Stadiums all around the world. Some of these like the Olympic Stadium of London, the Centennial Olympic Stadium of Atlanta or the Stadio Olimpico of Rome were built only to host the events of the Olympics. The National Stadium of Tokyo or the Jamsil Olympic Stadium of Seoul was already there when the Olympic Games were scheduled to be held there. Some stadiums had been used more than once for staging the events of the Olympics.

The Olympic Stadiums, starting from the first edition of the modern version in 1896, has been using special stadiums. These stadiums boasts of a rich history and being a part of the world's oldest sporting event, is now a heritage of the world itself.
