Taiwan and China are coined together in the history of Chinese Republic. Taiwan is the largest island of China situated on the southeaster coast of the country. In History of China, Taiwan plays crucial role, and has a series of stories on its relation-ship with republic of China since its inception. At ancient period Taiwan was known as the ‘Yizhou’ or ‘Liuqiu’
In the earliest written document of China it is found that Taiwan was related to the country even in that period. Officially from the end of the seventeenth centuries, Government of China, started sending Chinese aborigines to Taiwan Island, because of the following reasons,
The population growth was going higher day after day and Chinese people needed a place to take shelter, the nearest Taiwan Island was the ideal place for them to get settled
The Taiwan Island was also in need of re-organization, in terms of settlement, economic growth and cultural exchanges, thus the interdependence of country - China and Taiwan Island brought them near.
Taiwan in China is a platform of cultural assimilation of Chinese people of various ethnic groups and others. The cultural blend of various groups has enriched the significance of this state even more as time passes on.
Taiwan in China has influenced so much by Chinese traditions and values that in spite of the Japanese occupational influences for half centuries could not hamper their spirit of Chinese school of thoughts.
It is said that in hard times we get to know who is a friend and who is actually not. During the Japanese aggression, Taiwan and China together fought for their existence, and survival. The hand in hand relationship between Taiwan and China is hence–forth established and yet continuing.
