Vietnam Land and People

The people of Vietnam are descendants of the Mongols. The history of Vietnam states that the first ruler was Hung Vuong, who established the nation in 2879 BC. Under the reign of Chinese rulers, Vietnam was known as Nam Viet. In 1884, French rulers occupied Vietnam. Though it became independent after World War II but still the French rulers continued to reign.

Situated in southeastern Asia, Vietnam has a rich culture representing the age old traditions of the country. Vietnam, land and people represent the culture and tradition of the country. Despite foreign influence, the people have retained their own customs and rituals. The Chinese culture has left a great impact on the Vietnamese. The culture of Vietnam has also been influenced by Western culture.

In Vietnam, marriages used to take place at a very early age and were arranged by parents but over time, the process has changed and people choose their own partners. In Vietnamese weddings, the blend of western and eastern elements was quite visible.

The people of Vietnam practice Vietnamese Buddhism, which is one of the major religions of the country. Ancestor worship is a very old tradition of the country.
