The Paraguay President is both the chief of the state and the head of the government of Paraguay. The Paraguay President also nominates the Council of Ministers of the country. The president of Paraguay is elected by popular voting for a term of five years.
The chief office holder of the Executive Branch of Paraguay is the President of Paraguay along with the vice president. The Paraguay president also appoints a cabinet. The future election for the term of president has been assigned in the year 2008.
In the year 1844 on 14th March the president of Paraguay was Carlos Antonio Lopez. On 30th March 1999 Luis Angel Gonzalez Macchi was elected as the president of Paraguay and he served the presidential term till the year 2003 and was replaced by the current president Nicanor Duarte Frutos who was elected on 15th August in the year 2003.
