Togo France shares very good and friendly relationship with each other. Togo, known to be one of the first German colonies, was later on taken over by the French colonists. The French colonisers overpowered the Gerrman colonists and they set up their rule in Togo, which is why till date we are able to find French influences within the land of Togo. The French colonisers made use of the resources of Togo in order to enrich their own country and slave trading was done by the French colonisers from the land of Western-Africa , especially Togo. The french colonisers tried to assimilate the people of Togo by spreading the religion of Christianity amongst them. There were different tribes and clans hailing from different cultural backgrounds and they all were converted to Christianity, which was one of the tactics used by the French colonisers to homogenise the Western-African lands. Before Togo received its independence from the French rule there was a war of struggle between the educated classes of Togo and the French colonisers, later on the educated classses known as “Ewes” drafted the constitution of Togo, which was highly inspired from the French constitution.

Togo in the recent times has good political relations with the president of France .Togo's trade and commerce sector has expanded in a big way due to the rising trade transactions with France. Togo's embassies are mostly in Paris, the capital of France and they represent the country of Togo in the international forum. Togo and France carries on with a great deal of trading transactions in terms of monetary dealings and finances. The economy of Togo is booming due to the added assistance of France monetarily. Not only that military assistance is also provided to Togo by the French military body, in order to enhance trade relations with them.
