Even though the republic of Tajikistan is well-endowed with respect to the ample flora and fauna and spectacular landscape, Tajikistan business have not really flourished in the previous years that have inevitably left an ugly scar on the face of the nation's economy. Astonishingly, approximately two-fifths of the occupants are estimated to be dwelling well below the poverty standards. At one time owing to the abysmal performance of Tajikistan business, the republic was ranked to be the poorest among the all the republics belonging to the ex-Soviet Central Asia.
The major drawback is the lack of infrastructure and services that lies behind the failure of the republic of Tajikistan in the business arena. However, the republic of Tajikistan is looking forward to invest in the fields of aluminum processing but still it needs drastic improvement in its business atmosphere.
To aid in the development of a perfect business atmosphere, the SME policy or the Tajikistan Business Enabling Environment has been started in full force in Tajikistan. The full form of the SME Policy is Small and Medium Enterprises policy. The primary objective is to improve the business of Tajikistan.
Since the introduction of this new project in the year 2003, the Swiss State Secretariat for Foreign Affairs had come forward to provide some valuable assistance in its noble endeavor of improving the trade in Tajikistan.
The project besides playing a significant role in the resurrection of business in Tajikistan, they also render assistance to the Government in formulating alterations regarding the legislature.
