Valletta is the Capital of Malta and is planned by Grand Master Fra Jean de la Vallette and the Knights of the Order of St John with great care. Through its Baroque palaces Valletta reflects the charm of an Italian city. It is thought that the primary reason behind its construction is to fortify the island and the second reason is probably to offer lodgings, palaces, Auberges for the eight Knight's groupings and the gardens for the purpose of entertainment and churches for worship. This Maltese city has been constructed within the time period of 15 years and is nestled on a plateau between the two harbors on northeast coast of Malta.
There will be nothing wrong if we say that a trip to Valletta will take you back to the 16th century. In 1980 the city was declared to be a UNESCO World Heritage Site. According to the 2005 census report Valletta covers an approximate population of 6,315. Currently it has also become one of the major tourist destinations in Malta and is accumulating a huge amount of profit from the tourism business.
The transport facilities offered by Valletta also deserves appreciation. Most of the bus routes operate on routes to or from Valletta. By availing this buses you can always visit the Maltese places of interest that mostly includes the churches, museums, palaces, theatres, forts and gardens.
Apart from being a centre of tourist attraction Valletta can also be called an eminent cultural hub. Throughout the year it goes through a series of festivals, carnivals, feasts and other cultural events. In one sentence, Capital of Malta is indeed a an apt place where one can go for his holiday trip.
