Aomori


The city of Aomori by the Tsugaru Strait is day by day emerging as one of the major cities of Northern Japan.
Aomori city falls within the prefecture of Aomori . This Japanese city is blessed with a fine natural harbor. This particular factor together with its strategic position has led to the considerable growth of economy of the city. Aomori has gained international reputation due to its significant position in the arena of commerce and sports. This picturesque city by the sea and the Hakkodo Mountain has also made it a world renowned tourist destination. Though the city of Aomori is in operation since the 17 th century it gained its official status in 1898.

Aomori city has its very own official flower, tree and bird. The official bird is ‘uto' or the hornbilled puffin, the city tree is Aomori todomatsu and the official flower is hamanasu or the sweet brier. The city has its very own official emblem, which is a seven pointed star with a circle around it. The other thing which is an integral and unique part of the city of Aomori is the snowfall during winters. The wide experience of the citizens of Aomori has made it well informed to educate people of the other snowfall affected cities worldwide.

Some of the places of attraction in Aomori are the Aomori City Forestry Museum, Aomori Perfectural Folk Museum and History and Folk Arts Museum in Aomori. Hokkada Mountains in vicinity to the city is an excellent location for trekking and hiking. While in Aomori a relaxing day in one of the numerous hot spring spas can be experienced.
