To promote effective and practical knowledge among the students of Virginia, the government of the Commonwealth has transferred the responsibility of
Virginia education into the hands of the Virginia Department of Education.
Today, the Department of Education is mostly concerned with promoting educational growth in the primary and secondary levels of school education in the state.
The mission of this state-owned department is to make knowledgeable, self-reliant citizens out of the Virginian youth. To fulfill this aim, the organization has teamed up with several school boards in the state to provide Virginian students with the best education.
Although higher education is not supervised directly by the Virginia Board of Education, the board provides information on all facets of higher education; whether admissions in colleges or finding jobs. The scenario of Virginia education at the upper level is also quite bright and the state already has 2 universities listed in the top 10, the University of Virginia and the College of William and Mary. Besides, the state also possesses numerous private and public higher educational institutions.
