Somalia Weather




Somalia weather differs with the geographical location of different regions. Somalia Weather is characterized by hot and dry weather, which persists all round the year.
The places located on the higher altitude has a different weather conditions. These places are not as dry and hot as the places located on a lower altitude. The environment of Somalia varies from a semi-arid to arid conditions.

As per the Somalia weather condition, it has been noticed that the summer season exists from the month of February to April. The northern coastal strip of the country is considered to be the hottest place around with the temperature fluctuating some where in between 78oF during the winter and 105oF during the summer. The temperature condition remains moderate throughout the year in the mountainous region, with the temperature fluctuating in between 78oF during the summer and 63oF during the winter season.

Somalia weather condition states that there are two rainy seasons. The first occurs in between the months of April to june, which is called Gu and the second spells of rain occur in between the month of October and November, which is called Dayr. Another spell of rain is experienced in the areas of Kismaayo and Mogadishu, in the months of July and August and is called Xagaaye.

Somalia weather also influences the livelihood pf the people. The economic activity carried on in Somalia is influenced and motivated by the Somalia weather conditions. With the Somalia weather condition, the people prefer practicing nomadic pastoralism. Agriculture is carried on in the areas where weather conditions are suitable, like in the interiors of the south and areas in the north west.
