There are many rivers also in Rwanda that form the source of the great river Nile. There is river Kagera in Rwanda which forms the border between Tanzania and Rwanda. River Ruzizi creates the border between Democratic Republic of the Congo. There are divides between the drainage systems of the rivers Congo and Nile that are extended through western Rwanda and the land has sloping in the direction of Lake Kivu part of the Great Lakes. The total number of lakes in Rwanda is twenty three. The hills at the eastern slopes are low in altitude.
The climate is temperate in Rwanda because of its high altitude. The temperature remains around 23°C to 27°C. Rwanda is near to equator so because of the immense water evaporation clouds form and heavy rain occurs almost everyday. The average annual rainfall is 80 centimeters. On some days there is sunny weather also. The weather remains cool in hilly areas with very light snow sometimes during winter season.
