Nicaragua Football

Nicaragua football is a popular game, which is watched and liked by many in Nicaragua. However, among other countries in Central America, The Nicaragua National Football Team is one of the weakest team, since it has never qualified for a major international tournament. The National Football team in Nicaragua is controlled by Fedecarion Nicaraguense de Futbol. This is the governing body of football in Nicaragua.

Nicaragua football did not participate in the World Cup from 1930 to 1990. From 1994 to 2006 it hasn't been able to qualify for even a single year. The FIFA code is NCA and FIFA ranking is 153. It's highest FIFA ranking was 150 in August 1993. The nation's football team was unable to qualify even for the Gold Cup from 1991 to 2005. However, there was a ray of hope as it acquired the 5th place in UNCAF nations Cup in 2005 and 6th place in 2007.

The biggest win in the history of Nicaragua football was in Panama in 1967, when it defeated Guatemala 3-1. Another good win for the team was in 2007, when it defeated the El Salvador team by 4-2. The national football team faced its biggest defeat, when it lost to Brazil 14-1.

Nicaragua football supports different clubs. The first division football clubs of Nicaragua are Real Esteli, Diriangen, Masatape, Scorpion, Walter Ferreti, Bluefields, Jalapa, Scorpion and Real Madriz.

The Nicaragua football jersey is combination of white and blue, resembling its national flag. Carlos Alberto de Toro was the head coach for 2006 Nicaragua football team. The squad members are Lester Melendez, Denis Espinoza, Marcos Landeros, Emerson Salinas, Harwin Leon Figueroa, Javier Solorzano, Carlos Alonso, Milton Bustos, Silvio Aviles, Hoogly Corrales, Jorge Isaac Sevilla, Josue Zarate, Juan Carlos Vilchez, Jose Carballo, Eustace Martin, David Solorzano and many more.

An ardent effort has to be made by the Government of Nicaragua to improve the game. Different perspectives have to be dealt with more seriously, thus enabling the National Football team of Nicaragua to scale new heights in the FIFA rankings.
