Immanuel "Manny" Mori currently occupies the office of the Micronesia President. He was elected to the post in 2007 and is the seventh President of the Federated States of Micronesia. The Micronesian president is elected for a term of four years. After the completion of the term the Congress elects another candidate to serve as the next President of the country. The Vice President assists the President in his duties. There is also a cabinet of ministers comprising of the Finance minister, the foreign minister and several others to aid the President in the performance of his duties. The President of Micronesia is the head of the state as well as that of the government.
The current president of Micronesia hails from the island of Chuuk. Chuuk is the most densely populated state in the country. Earlier Joseph Urusemal, the sixth President of the country, occupied the office of the Micronesia president. His objective during his tenure was to develop collaborations with Australia and Japan. Micronesia President represents the country in the international arena.
