Venezuela Executive


The Venezuela Executive is the head of the state. The president is the chief executive, who represents the state. According to the 1961 Venezuela constitution, the person elected as the president should be a Venezuelan national by birth. The president of Venezuela should be at least thirty years of age. He is elected through the adult suffrage by a plurality vote and serves for a period of five years. The acting president cannot be re elected for the next ten years. Carlos Andres Perez was the first president of Venezuela and to have served two terms: from 1974 to 1979 and from 1988 to 1993.

Functions of the Venezuela President

As the chief of the Venezuela Executive, the president performs certain functions. The executive powers bestowed to the president of Venezuela are
  • He is the ultimate person who can call for special Congress sessions, exercise full control regarding foreign policies
  • The Venezuela president is the supreme commander of the armed forces
  • He also has the power to appoint and remove ministers
  • The president of Venezuela can also discuss issues like expenditures excepting the budget and loans
The president is assisted by both the cabinet and non- cabinet ministers of the Venezuela government. However the size and composition of the cabinet is determined by the president of Venezuela. Therefore the Venezuela Executive is headed by the president, who is the republican head of Venezuela.
