Tanzania Hunting

Tanzania is one of the few countries in the world where the activity of hunting is legally allowed. Tanzania hunting is an exciting activity undertaken by hunting enthusiasts.

Hunting in Tanzania is allowed in some selected areas or blocks in the country. The Tanzanian government has reserved a substantial area of the country for hunting and related activities. The total Tanzanian hunting area is approximately 930,700 square kilometers. Hunting at Tanzania is allowed under controlled environments. A professional hunter usually accompanies the hunting tour group. Popular hunted animals include the wild animals found in the north of Tanzania. The list of wild animals includes gerenuk, oryx and gazelle. The south of the country is known for the sable antelope, southern reedbuck and puku. The carnivorous game like the lion, buffalo and leopard are found all over Tanzania.

The Selous Reserve is a popular hunting ground in Tanzania. The hunting season in the park starts in July and extends until December. Cool weather occurs between the months of May to September. The Reserve is accessible by air. Charter flights operate from the Tanzanian capital Dar-Es-Salaam to the Selous Reserve area. The hunted animals in the park include the Cape buffalo, Nyasaland wildebeest, warthog and impala.
