Finland People

The Finland people are defined by people of Finnish ethnicity. The people of Finnish ethnicity are found all over Scandinavian Europe, Russia and even in northern American countries like Canada.

Finland people are difficult to quantify. This difficulty is due to the huge dispersal of the ethnic people of Finland. People of Finnish ethnicity are known as Kvens in Norway. Tornedalians are a distinct Finnish group in northern Sweden. The Ingrian Finns are the resident Finns in Finland. The rainbow of ethnic people of Finland ancestry is due to events in the country's history. Finland was annexed by the country of Sweden for a long period in its history. The result of the conquest in contemporary Finnish society is the presence of Swedish speakers in the Republic of Finland.

A majority of the people in Finland consider themselves to be one great nation. This concept overrides the supposed linguistic differences between the components of the Finland population. The people of Finland may be superficially classified into two groups on the basis of the spoken dialects of the Finnish language. The two groups are the West Finnish group and the East Finnish group. The Swedish speakers form a different language group within the country of Finland.
