Capital of Eritrea, Amsara is located on the eastern border of the highland plateau of Eritrea and offers wonderful climate, beautiful roads surrounded by alluring palm trees. Since a long time it has been considered as one of the most secured capital cities in the African continent. This fascinating African city has been named after the Arbaete Asmara. The Tigrinya word literally signifies the union of the four villages that form the city of Asmara.
Capital of Eritrea, Amsara claims approximately a population of 579,000. It can also be called a commercial hub of the nation. The key industries of Eritrea includes:

As told earlier, Amsara originated from the four villages. It is thought that there were four clans residing in the Asmara region. Later on, inspired by the initiations of the women in society, the men united the four clans and discomfited the bandits. As result, this place got a new name, Arbaete Asmera. With the course of time, Arbaete had been dropped and gradually became popular by the name of Asmera. However, still now there is an area named Arbaete Asmera.
In 1881 Asmara gained a huge importance when Ras Alula (governor) established a market in the city. Gradually the population also rose up with a great pace. Tigrinya is the mostly spoken language in Amsara. Italian and English are also spoken widely in various corners of the city.
Eritrean National Museum is one of the major attractions of Amsara. It is mostly known for its old and architectural buildings. The city is home to a series of Italian colonial villas and mansions and University of Asmara.
