The majority of the Burkina Faso people comprises of several ethnic groups and tribes. The Mossi group forms the majority of the population in Burkina Faso, comprising almost 40% of the total number of people. The remaining 60% of the population is made up the other tribes and clans namely, Fulani, Mande, Senufo, Bobo, Lobi and Gourounsi. The population of the country is about 14 million people.
Burkina Faso people have faced several harsh situations since a long time, including several political and civil disturbances. But what kept the country together was the bond of harmony and integrity. The people supported each other during the time of distress and despair. The lifestyle of the people of Burkina Faso is very simple. Most of the people are dependent on the agrarian economy. The number of industries is quite less.
People of Burkina Faso also suffer from immense health problems, illiteracy and unemployment. Only a quarter part of the population is literate. The life expectancy of people in the West African country is about 50 years. With the development of medical facilities, general health conditions of the people have improved. Poverty is a permanent problem that is faced by the people of Burkina Faso. In spite of such harsh conditions, Burkina Faso people have a rich cultural and traditional heritage.
