February 9 1928 - America gets its remarkable fantasy and science fiction artist

It was on 9 February 1028 that Frank Frazetta was born in Brooklyn. As a noted fantasy and science fiction artist, Frank Frazetta was well-known for his work in paperback book covers, posters, comic books, paintings, LP record-album covers and a range of other media. Frank was the only boy among four children and he spent a majority of his time with his grandmother, who encouraged him in art at a tender age of two. Frazetta attended the Brooklyn Academy of Fine Arts when he was just eight years old. This was a small art school run by instructor named Michel Falanga. In 1964, Frazetta’s painting of Beatle Ringo Starr for a Mad magazine ad parody was noticed by United Artists studios. After this, he was approached to do the movie poster for “What’s New Pussycat?” In addition to this, Frazetta also did a number of other movie posters. He continues to influence many artists who possess a huge amount of interest in fantasy and science fiction.
