Lake Kariba is a beautiful lake, which is situated on the river Zambezi and it flows along the border of Zimbabwe and Zambia. It is an artificial water body, which flows amidst mountains and it is a spot for tourist attraction. Kariba Reservoir is almost 40 kms wide and 220 kms long and its storage potential is enormous. The lake is quite deep around 97 metres and is said to have induced at least 20 earthquakes to occur around the islands of Chete an d Chikanka.

Lake Kariba is home to all kinds of fishes like Tiger fish and other forms of game fish. Lake Kariba is often filled with a line of water birds and fish cormorants. At times elephants can also be seen along the shores of this amazing lake. Lake Kariba is an ideal location for sight-seeing and the government is trying to build up the tourism industry in and around this place to earn revenue. Lake Kariba is an ideal place for all kinds of adventure and sports like river rafting, scuba-diving and snorkelling.
Lake Kariba is always filled with water through out the year and it often floods the neighboring places during rains. Hence a damn named the Kariba Dam has been built by the people in order to curb the flow of the lake.
