Turkmenistan Culture is marked by the presence of Turkmen ethnic groups which comprise around 85% of the country's population. Besides the Turkmen the other groups found in this region include Uzbeks, Russians, Kazakhs. The language followed here is Turkmen.
Turkmenistan Culture continues to have traces of influence of the Soviet rule. Around 90% of Turkmenistan population consists of Muslims. Sufi influence is found to exist here. The cultural group of the Russians in Turkmenistan are greatly influenced by the Western culture in terms of their dress,attitude and lifestyle. The dress of the turkmen women consists of a long wear in vibrant colors. Besides, head scarves are also used by the women here. The wear for men consists of hats made from the skin of sheep and red robes. This is worn over a white inner shirt. Marriage in the Turkmenistan Culture takes place usually within the tribe with the consent of parents.
