The last pre-Inca empire selected this town as their capital. This is a big colonial town as well. Located in the driest area of Peru Ayacucho Peru was discovered by Francisco Pizarro in 1539. This place is very famous for its religious celebrations. "La Quinua" is quite close to this town. This is the place where the battle of Ayacucho took place in 1824. The Spanish won the battle and the era of Spanish colonization began. The colonial architecture can be still seen here. Many of the colonial houses are present.
Ayacucho of Peru was the center of "Sendero Luminoso", the terrorist group. However the group have disappeared completely. This town is so small that you can visit any place by walking. Every time you walk you can discover a new appeal of this place. There are a number of hotels like Florida, Gran Hotel, Samary, Yanez, Ayacucho Hotel Plaza, Magdalena etc.
The Bell Towers of Ayacucho in Peru is worth watching. This is a town of nostalgia, a town where the primitive age and the colonial past have blended in ab unique manner.
