Panteon Nacional de los Heroes is a must visit for the tourists, if they are really interested to discover the lifeline of Paraguay. Panteon Nacional de los Heroes is basically a plaza, where the tourists can go for an exploration of the culture and society of Paraguay. The tourists can find a handful of relics from this very mall of Panteon Nacional de los Heroes.
With the rise of the sun, the plaza gets filled up with the Guarani vendors. These vendors open their stalls in the early morning only to close theirs at the setting of the sun. Their stalls are full of the Paraguayan traditional items of art like bows and arrows, headdresses, pottery and many others. Each of the pieces of art is so magnificent that the tourists can spend hours to decide on which item to buy and which to spare. There are also a big number of hawkers, who hawk for their variety of items ranging from miracle knife sharpeners to herbal medicines.
The public holidays turn out to be livelier in the Panteon Nacional de los Heroes. There is a big display of folk-dance performers and live music on those days.
A part of the Paraguayan history also lies in one corner of the plaza. A monument in the northeast part of the Panteon Nacional de los Heroes reminds the onlookers of the Stroessner dictatorship, which made hundreds of executions. The monument has been set up as a mark of tribute to the victims of torture.
