Namibia Culture

Namibia Culture has seen the influence of various cultures of the world depending upon the nation that established its rule over the country. For many years the country was based on the race and culture discrimination. After getting the Independence in 1991, from apartheid South Africa, Namibia could finally come out of the shadows of foreign culture.

The aim at present is to develop the culture of Namibia on the basis of "Unity in Diversity" and it solely aims at mutual understanding, tolerance and respect in terms of national integrity. The younger generations are enlightened about the Namibia culture and it is included in the school curriculum. Preservation is another aspect of retaining the cultural heritage of any country and hence the National Monuments Council was structured for the Preservation of historical monuments of Namibia.

Sports, language and spirituality also form the very core of the Namibia culture and are retained very well by the Namibians. The Namibian government is emphasizing both on the past and present of Namibian culture. The annual art festival of the local artists is conducted along with local film productions. International cultural treaties were also signed by Namibia for training programs. The Franco Namibia Culture Centre and the Goethe Centre are simultaneously playing the pivotal role in exploring the past and retaining the present Namibia culture.
