Iran Historycan be dated back to the sixth millennium B.C. In the third millenium BC Elam and. around 1200 B.C. Media is founded. In 630 Media gains independence. In 559 B.C. Cyrus the Great unites the Persian tribes and Media into Persia. This is an important event in the Iran history. According to the history of Iran, in 328 Alexander conquers Persia and in 312 Persia becomes part of the Seleucidian Empire. in 226 BC Persia regains independence under the Sassanides.
From 642 onwards foreign rulers started to rule Persia, in 642 the Caliphate, in 1040 the Seljuk Sultanate and in 1223 the Mongols. Though in 1379 Iran became a part of the Timurid Empire between 1449 and 1499 Iran was again split up
Iran (in English named as Persia) was revived under the Safavid dynasty (1502-1736). Then came the Zand dynasty, founded by Karim Kahn, and later the Qajar (1795-1925) dynasty. A limited constitution was granted in 1906 and a parliament in 1907. Soviet Republic of Gilan broke apart in 1920 which was again taken by Iran in 1921.
In 1921 Reza Khan, ascended and in 1925 he makes himself the shah. Under Reza Khan Iranian government exerts its authority over the tribes and provinces. In 1941 Reza Shah is forced to surrender the throne.
