Aland Islands




The Aland Islands situated in the Baltic Sea, lying between Finland and Sweden comprises of 65,000 islands and more. Surrounded by water, the sea both links and isolates the
group of islands from the European continent. The inhabitants of the Aland Islands are called Alanders. They are descendants of the Nordic people who originally settled in these islands. It has a population of over 25,000 spread over 65 islands only.

Mariehamn is the capital city of Aland Islands. It is also the only city in the islands. Mariehamn has a small airport. There are free ferries for the passengers for inter-island transportation in Alan Islands. There are also buses to facilitate movement.

The spectacular natural beauty of the islands is one of the chief reasons contributing to the growth of tourism in Aland Islands. The wooded meadows, the flora and fauna, the beautiful rugged cliffs and shores, the manicured gardens, the thick forests and the wonderful blue sea weaves charm over its visitors.
