Benin - culture and society are to a greater extent tradition bound. France has influenced the culture of Benin to some extent because of its close ties with Benin. The ethnic groups of Benin have their own individual traditions and religious practices.

The art culture of Benin is explicit in its marvelous bronze works. Music and dance is also an integral part of the culture and society of Benin. The people of Benin are known as Beninese. The various ethnic groups belonging to the society of Benin are as follows:

According to 2001 data report, the Christians account for 42.8% of the Benin population. There are about 24.4% of Muslims, 17.3% of Vodoun and 15.5% of other religious communities in Benin. French is the official language of the place. Fon and Yoruba are spoken widely in the southern region of Benin. The majprity of the Benin population earn their livelihood from the service sector. About 32.8% are engaged in agricultural activities and 13.7% are employed in the industries (2006 data report).

The staple food of the people in the Northern region of Benin is yam whereas those in the Southern region is corn. Besides, the Beninese also takes fruit juice and wine.
