Central Bank of Belize is located in the Gabourel Lane in the Belize city. Being the most important among the Belize Banks, the Central Bank in Belize takes care of the international business of the country. The Belize Central Bank was formed on the 1st of January in the year of 1982 by the Central Bank of Belize Act No. 15, which is in chapter 262 of the Laws of Belize Revised Edition 2000.

The Central Bank of Belize is modeled by following the structure of the Bank of England. The functions of the Central Bank include providing banking services to the Government of Belize and other financial institutions of the country. It also plays the role of issuing domestic currency, providing economic advice to the Government, regulating commercial banks, conducting research and publishing information on monetary as well as other economic developments.

Central Bank of Belize helps in developing the economic and financial environment in the country to ensure the country's economic growth. It also maintains the monetary stability in the country and regulates the issue and availability of money and its international exchange. Central Bank of Belize functions to foster good credit and exchange rates as well as the development of money and capital markets in Belize.
