Beja is a military town at the lower slopes of the Khroumire, between the Mediterranean and the Medjerdah River and about a 100 kilometers from Tunis. Beja is also alternatively known as Bajah and Bedja.
Location of Beja
Beja is located at 36°43'N and 9°13'E on the slopes of Djebel Acheb, and is among the green meadows with quaint red roofed and white terraced houses.
Reaching Beja
Beja can be reached by the GP 6 from Tunis, which is 109km to the west. Frequent rail service from Jendouba, Tabarka and Tunis. The airport of Tunis also acts as a gateway to the city.
Sightseeing at Beja
Beja is a wonderfully green and fertile area of Tunisia. Craggy mountains draped in tall trees, full resplendent farms intervened occasionally by lush vineyards and all manner of uniformly sweet small houses make Beja highly attractive.

- Kasbah, the Byzantine fort restored with heavy 19th century influences, was off-limits for a number of years as it was part of a military base; however it is now open to the public.
- Henchir el Fouar is a site of Roman architectural splendor with two Christian basilicas and baths accompanied by a little forum.
- Old Town is a place left almost untouched by time.
- Henchir Rhiria are also Roman ruins, with a huge Gateway forming the centerpiece of the attractions.
- Pont de Trajan (Trajan's Bridge) is a 10km long ancient Roman bridge.
