Panama Culture

Panama culture is an eclectic amalgamation of different cultures, which lend the country with a great deal of overwhelming diversity and richness. The native or original Panama culture had been influenced greatly by foreign settlements and thus it has enriched over the years. It is said that Panama culture is composed of 6 Indian cultures, each of which is disparate in its own way.

Panama Culture Characteristics

It is evident from the history of Panama culture that the native people of Panama lived alone for many years till the Spanish explorers set their feet on the land in the 16th century. The noticeable outcome of this was that Spanish traditions, lifestyle and culture infused into the texture of Panama culture. The resultant interesting Panama culture is what is observed in the present age.

However one culture in Panama which has remained unaltered is that of the Kuna tribe. They still follow their ancestral customs. This tribe has closely-knit communities and matriarchal societies. Every province in Panama reflects the traditional folklores of the country. The conventional dances, food, music and songs of Panama perfectly depict the folklores. Some Catholic churches in Panama, such as Los Santos and Herrera are constructed according to Spanish traditions.

Every aspect of Panama culture is deeply engrossing and is reflected in the lifestyle of the people in Panama.
