Palestine Anthem reflects the political ideology of the state. The National Anthem of Palestine underwent a number of changes at various points of the nation's history. While some of the earlier anthems highlighted the glory of the country and had more pacifistic and tolerant tones, the present anthem of Palestine has a much more pronounced martial feel to it.
The present Palestine anthem, which begins with the words, “My country, the Land of my grand fathers”, is a verse that highlights the martial commitment of the inhabitants of the country. It comes across as a war cry for the Palestinians to maintain the integrity of the nation at all costs. The National anthem in Palestine is a reminder to the inhabitants that Palestine is no land for the weak hearted. That one should not desist from resorting to arms, if needs be, to protect the national character and political unity of the country. The present national anthem of Palestine was adopted in 2003.
It should be noted that the Palestine anthem had invited criticism from certain quarters of the world, because of its pronounced martial tenor. Martyrdom and Revenge feature prominently in the song. The song has been blamed for endorsing violence and a divisional attitude in lieu of brotherhood and world peace.
