Estonia Environment

Estonia environment owes a lot to its water and land features. Estonia environment is unique and natural. There are four seasons in Estonia and nature is at its best in this scenic country. The environment of Estonia had been under danger from the extensive contamination in the era of the Soviet Union.

The Soviet army was also responsible for spreading the pollution in Estonia as it had dumped tones of waste products from the ammunitions, poisonous chemicals and had discarded outmoded explosives in the interior and the coastal waters of Estonia.

In the year 1994, the country of Estonia had approved the Convention on Biological Diversity which is the most wide-ranging convention on protection of nature and it also includes the complete standard management of nature and safety of the related aspects of the security of the environment.

Estonia government is now very much active in implementation of all the safety measures to protect the livable environment of the country.
Conservation of nature has been of prime importance to the Ministry of Environment of Estonia. Environmental issues are being safeguarded by some important tasks as:
  • ambient air and emission protection
  • progress of environmental necessities
  • endorsement of sustainable technologies
  • regulating the application and safety of surface areas
