Pirihueico Lake




The Pirihueico Lake is located in the former mountain area of the '10th Region'. This lake is in an area, which has many more lakes in the surroundings, with lush,
green vegetation and crude mountains, hanging around the lake.

The shape of Lake Pirihueico is elongated, enveloped by hills and carpeted green vegetation. One can reach Argentina easily by ferry crossing the Hua-Hum pass. The two more lakes situated on either side of the Lake of Pirihueico are:
  • Puerto Fuy - This Lake is located on the extreme west side of Pirihueico Lake. The the Hua-Hum ferries are available here and takes passengers to Puerto Pirihueico, which is an international pass to Argentina.
  • Puerto Pirihueico - This Lake is located on the extreme east of the Pirihueico Lake. The topography of this place is usually flat with some abrupt elevations. This lake is situated in the heart of Andes Mountains, surrounded by hills on all the sides along with the native vegetation.
Among the "The Seven Lakes" in Panguipullis municipality of southern Chile, Pirihueico Lake is one of them. The origin of the lake is from glaciers, and the Andes range surrounding on all sides. The source of water of this lake is the Llanquihue River. The south of the lake has the Huilo-Huilo Reserve where activities like mountain biking, hiking, horseback riding and wildlife observation are carried out.



The transportation is mainly through ferry to Puerto Fuy, and there are many vehicles departing to different corners of the country. The Pirihueico Lake not only offers the best of landscape in its own vicinity but also gives the tourists an opportunity to enjoy the adjacent lakes and cities.
