Situated in the southwest province, Kumba is one of the major commercial cities in Cameroon. Kumba is the biggest city of this province and serves as the trade center for oil palms, cacaos and timber. The city is home to various ethnic groups like Bafaw. The people of the city speak in different languages like Duala, Bakossi, Moh and Bantoid. French and Pidgin are also widely spoken by the Kumba people. The Bafaw group has become a minority in the city of Kumba. The mayor appointed by the government of Kumba is the head of the local politics of the city.
The city houses many attractions of the country like Barombi Mbo and others. The Barombi Mbo is a big crater lake situated in the northwest of the city center. The French International Rugby originated from the city Kumba.
