Burundi Health is greatly assisted by World Health Organization. It provide training to nurses, sanitarians. Organizations of public health services also received assistance from WHO. Health in Burundi has been a serious issue. WHO helped these organizations in campaigning against small pox, malaria and tuberculosis.
Most of the Burundi Health programs are coordinated by WHO. They provide fund along with UNICEF and UN Food and Agricultural Organization for maternal and child health program. Medical students from Burundi received training from Democratic Republic of Congo and France.
The people in the Ruvuvu River Valley suffer from sleeping sickness which is borne by the Tsetse fly. People of the Ruzizi River often suffer from Bilharziasis and Malaria. Malnutrition is a common reason behind many of the diseases. Health in Burundi is not at all an easy thing to deal with. Cholera, diphtheria, measles, tetanus, pertussis is another serious problem that the Burundi people are facing. The most common problem of Burundi is HIV/AIDS.
