The country of Belize has been divided into 6 Belize districts for better administration of the country. The districts of Belize namely Belize District, Toledo District, Cayo District, Orange Walk District, Stann Creek District and Corozal District, have distinctive features of their own in spite of sharing the common bonds of history and culture.
Belize districts form the homeland of a mixed population of various races and ethnicities ranging from the Mayas to the Garifunas, the Creoles to the Chinese. The districts of Belize, the site of the rich ancient Mayan civilization existent in the remote past became occupied by European settlers in the later times.
The varied topography, the amazing flora and fauna, the amalgamation of diverse cultures and the plethora of tourist attractions of the Belize districts make them unique and charming. Belize towns and cities are the centers of the districts of Belize and form important links of the country.
