The Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago was formed in 1964 and was the sole authority to issue coins and notes in Trinidad and Tobago. In 1977 the British Queen's portrait from the currency notes of Trinidad and Tobago were replaced by designs depicting local flora, fauna and economic activities.

Trinidad and Tobago currency coins comprise denominations of 1 c, 5 c, 10c, 25 c, and 50 c. The coins have the Trinidad and Tobago Coat of Arms on the frontal side. The other side portrays the national bird or flower.
Trinidad and Tobago Currency Notes
Trinidad and Tobago currency notes are of TTD 1, TTD 5, TTD 10, TTD 20, and TTD 100. Currently two sets of notes are in circulation; those issued in 1995, and those issued in 2002 with upgraded security features.
