Oviedo city Spain



Oviedo, Spain is the capital city of the principality of Asturias and it also acts as the administrative and commercial hub of the region. The central area of the city is at a height of 227 meters above
the sea-level and Mount Naranco acts as a shield for the region against the North winds. The Southern part is fenced by the Aramo Range . Since its inception the region had been an integral part of the Asturian Monarchy and was also the capital of the kingdom, this link is still apparent from the medieval flavor that the historic quarter of the city has. Oviedo, Spain is perhaps the best departure point for scrutinizing the samples of pre- Romanesque style of Asturias which has the status of a world heritage site. Besides this historic face of Oviedo, Spain , the more contemporary side of the land is apparent from the activities and sports on the coastline of the Costa Verde.

A precursor to the Gothic and Romanesque style of art, the pre-Romanesque style of art of the Asturias is something unique to the land of Oviedo, Spain . Some of the most s ignificant building and Monuments of the land are:
