Bustrengo is a favorite dish with the people of San Marino. It is a cake that has a barbaric origin. It was a food that was consumed by the peasants of San Marino and nearby areas.
But gradually it became one of the most sought after dishes in the country. It is quite simple to bake this cake at home. Most of the ingredients that are required to make the cake are readily available.
Bustrengo does not take much time to prepare. This delicious food is made with several ingredients that include the following:

- Fresh breadcrumbs

The procedure of baking the cake is very simple. It is described below:
- Two types of flours, eggs, oil, and breadcrumbs are all mixed together
- The mixture of all these is blend with milk
- Sliced and grated fruits are added to the mixture
- The whole paste is transferred into a baking dish, which is well greased with olive oil
- The baking is done at a temperature of 160-170°C for about an hour
Once the cake is baked, it is brought out and decorated with cherries, raisins and nuts. The cake can be eaten, when it is still hot or after being cooled to room temperature. A sweet dessert wine goes very well with Bustrengo, the cake of San Marino.
