San Marino Currency

San Marino Currency is the primary guiding force behind the economy of the country. Italian Lira was the currency that was used in the country for a long time. However, presently the Italian Lira has made way to European Euro. The concept of Euro was introduced in the year 2002. Both Euro currency notes and coins were introduced in the market in the same year.

In the olden times, gold and silver coins were used by people in San Marino and still in many places, these coins are used. As a result, the production of these coins has not stopped completely. San Marino Currency is not different from those of the other European nations and it is easier to travel in the country, with this currency.

There are many facilities of currency exchange in San Marino. But the problem is the varying exchange currency rates that the different banks offer in the country. The exchange rate also depends upon the denominations of the currency that is being brought into the country or sold to people.

Traveling in San Marino is easy as traveler’s cheques and credit cards are accepted widely in the country. Traveler’s cheques in US dollars are preferred here. San Marino money in the form of Euro has made transactions in the European country easier.
